Sapphires. We producing the initial pattern on the computer and then

The CAD files were then converted into an STL format, this converts the surface of the models into a group of tiny triangles to enable the wax reproduction to take place. In this case the wax patterns were produced using a Sanders Rapid Prototyping process, (basically, the machine builds up layers of wax on a bed to produce the model.) The waxes were then trimmed, sprued, invested and cast using the lost wax casting process. |
