The machine models and graphics types listed in this document are the ones that have been tested by DeskArtes or its partners to be suitable for DeskArtes IDS use. The list is not complete and also many other machine or graphics types will probably work ok with DA IDS.
To make the list to cover larger set of all the possible hardware/OS combinations
you can send information of the combinations working well with DeskArtes IDS
to email address support@deskartes.fi. The information will be then added
to the list.

Deskartes IDS is currently not supported on either 32-bit or 64-bit versions of Windows Vista.
Deskartes IDS is not currently supported on 64-bit version of Windows XP.
There has been problems running background commands on some Deskartes IDS installations
on 32-bit version of Windows XP. In this case for example the image conversion commands
from the File Window middle list menu fail, with the error message like
"[1] + Done(134) ? 2816 Abort Rgb2Bmp" in the IDS startup window. Currently there is no
solution known to this problem.
With some graphics adapters there has been problems in window refreshing
when running Deskartes IDS on Windows 2000. Usually those problems
can however be fixed by decreasing the hardware acceleration of the
graphics adapter or changing its color depth. In most cases the 24-bit
or 32-bit true color has worked best.
With older driver the default hardware acceleration settings of the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro cause drawing errors in DeskArtes IDS. Disabling the acceleration for OpenGL antialiasing partly fixes the problem, but that also slows down the graphics speed substantially. The problem can be fixed by upgrading the driver from ATI web-site (to version 6.14.01.6255).
DeskArtes IDS with the Exceed 5.1.3 cannot be run on machines having Intel 855G/865G graphics adapter. The 3D Extensions of the Exceed version 5.1.3, which is included in the DeskArtes IDS installation media, cannot provide OpenGL functionality with this graphics. As result of this only the "wireframe" and "box" drawing modes are available in IDS.
There is currently no solution known to this problem with the Exceed 5.1.3. The problem
can however be fixed by running Exceed 6 with the runtime support for Exceed 5 programs.
The portable PCs have special technology compared to the desktop machines, because in them the power saving is very important design criteria. Unfortunately these special constructions often cause problems that do not exist on the desktop machines. Also not all the portable machines support Windows NT 4 or Windows 2000, which are needed to run DeskArtes IDS.
Therefore we recommend that a specific portable model is tested with DeskArtes IDS Series, before purchasing it for DeskArtes use, if possible.
The following portable models have been tested by DeskArtes or its partners and
found to be suitable for DeskArtes IDS use.
| Manufacturer | Model | Graphics | Operating system |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dell | Inspiron 3800M | ATI Rage Mobility | Windows NT 4.0 |
| Fujitsu | Lifebook C5110 | ATI Rage Mobility-P | Windows 95, Windows NT 4.0 |
| ARC | Radiance MCL10 | NVidia GeForce4 GO | Windows 2000 Professional |
| Acer | Aspire 1452LCi | ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 | Windows XP Home, Windows 2000 Professional |
| Acer | Aspire 5512WLMI | ATI Mobility Radeon X700 | Windows XP Home |
With the following portable models there has been problems running DeskArtes IDS and therefore
they are NOT recommended.
| Manufacturer | Model | Graphics | Operating system |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fujitsu-Siemens | Lifebook E4010 | Intel 855GM | Windows 2000 SP4 |
| Operating system | Tested hardware | Graphics |

| Operating system | Tested hardware | Graphics |
|---|---|---|
| Mac OS X 10.3.4 | Apple Powerbook G4 17" | ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 64 MB DDR SDRAM |
Due to the problems found with the new Apple X11 version included in this Mac OS X version,
the Deskartes IDS is currently not supported on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard).
