New features from v. 4.3 to 5.0 include the following new functionality:

New selection mechanisms. Multiple selection of curves and surfaces for Cut/Copy/Paste operation and Transformation operations (VE, 3DE, DE)

Curve Design. Numerical Angle and Arc definition, Image Templates, Microscribe Input, Improved N-sided Polygons, Surface Spiral. The new commands enable more accurate and easier projection and section curve design for mechanical and conceptual design. (DE)

Curve Ofsetting: New curve offsetting enables better offset curve creation, including correct handling for self intersecting offsets.

Viewing. X, Y, Z and 3D Views simultaneously enable better viewing as well as object positioning and 3D editing of curves. (VE, 3DE, DE)

Macros. User defined Macros for collecting and running regularly used commands easily. (VE, 3DE, DE)

Surface Design. Graphical Deformations, End Caps, Surface Split. Graphical Twist/Bend/Taper allow easier and more creative generation of shapes. Splitting surface along isoparametric curve helps to generate solid models out of self intersecting surfaces (DE)

Combining Surfaces. Multiple Blends for smooth and easy connection of intersecting surfaces. (DE)

Visualization. Batch process control for image creation and Default Scene loading and saving. (DE)

New File Formats. Tiff and Jpeg images for Textures and Image Templates. DXF geometry data transfer. (VE, 3DE, DE)

Transformations. Fit to size and Move to origin commands. Improved fixpoint control (VE, 3DE, DE)

Undo/Redo. Undo and Redo operations make design and repair work more flexible by allowing fast cancellation and retry between different commands. The user can set the depth of Undo/Redo to the desired level.

User Defined Keyboard Shortcuts. Now the user can design and use any combination of keyboard shortcuts. Traditional IDS shortcuts available as a predefined shortcut set. (VE, 3DE,  DE)

Preferences: New preference system has been implemented. Now the preferences are both user and program dependent.

CATIA  licensing: The license for the new CATIA interface is done based on the same system id as the DeskaArtes license from Help/About DeskArtes... dialog.

Surface Curve: Multiple object positioning with Surface curve on a selected surface.
